John LastI returned to reporting in 2006 after serving the previous 8 years as WICU 12News Assignment Editor. Prior to coming to WICU, I worked for 7 years reporting at Erie's other two network stations. Why go back on the streets? I guess I can compare myself to the Detroit Tigers' Jim Leyland, who returned to managing because he felt he still had something to contribute. We both got our wish!
I began my broadcasting career in my hometown of Franklin where I served as the News Director at WFRA radio. I also worked for a short time at WKQW in Oil City.
I live in Erie with my wife Julie. I live vicariously through my children Adam and Emily. Adam is a professional engineer in State College. Emily is an engineering student at Penn State. Thus, I am a fan of FIRST Robotics and everything Penn State.
I am a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Parish where I also served on the School Board and Pastoral Council. I enjoy running and have completed 17 marathons. I also am a legacy member of the LVM21 Club. Our goal is to run the Las Vegas Marathon/Half Marathon for 21 consecutive years. 7 down and 14 to go!
