A Millcreek police detective is honored as Erie county officer of the month.
District Attorney Jack Daneri presented the award to Sergeant Lesley Mitchell of the Millcreek Police Department.
She's been on the force for 16 years.
She's the first woman to receive the award.
As a detective, she works investigations from major crimes, to burglaries.
"Extremely honored. It's a nice honor. We don't get recognized in a positive light very often, so it's very nice." Said Sgt. Mitchell.
"She's dedicated to her work, she's a professional in every respect, and we're fortunate to have her, and I believe the citizens of Millcreek are better off as a result of her efforts." Said Chief Carlotti.
"She's one of those unique detectives where she has a great combination of smarts, street smarts, but she also has a lot of compassion." Said Daneri.
