An Erie police Lieutenant is honored as September's officer of the month.
Wednesday, District Attorney Jack Daneri honors Lt. Les Fetterman as Erie County's Officer of the Month.
Fetterman has been on the Erie police force for 23 years.
He's currently commander of the department's SWAT Team.
" What really meant more to me is, I found out who nominated me. It was a retired police officer that retired about 20 years ago. To just get his respect by being nominated is enough for me." Said Lt. Fetterman.
"One of the most important things he does is to lead the SWAT team. As you know they go into situations that are extremely volatile, and you need someone with a cool head, understands how to dispatch his team to take care of the situation. And so we're very please he got the award this month." Said Daneri.
"Anytime we're involved in a tactical situation which is what SWAT is all about, the members of the team need to have a high level of trust and confidence in the man that's directing them, and that's where Les comes in to play." Said Deputy Police Chief Randy Bowers.
