Dwayne Johnson Buys Rockin’ South Florida House

Posted: Updated:

It takes a big house to hold a big man. Especially if that man's as big as a rock. For that, we give you Dwayne Johnson and the mega-house the actor/wrestler apparently just bought.

According to TMZ, the man known as "The Rock" bought a massive home in the Southwest Ranches real estate market northwest of Miami, FL, about 20 miles from where Johnson starred with the University of Miami when the Hurricanes won the national title in 1991.

Johnson paid $3.4 million for the home that was previously owned by Miami Dolphins player Vernon Carey, meaning the house was already garnished with all the trappings appropriate for big-time athletes. In addition to 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a pool, a summer kitchen and two 3-car garages, the 13,153-square-foot ranch sits inside gates to ensure privacy inside the Landmark development.

After Johnson's college career, he briefly joined the Canadian Football League, playing for the Calgary Stampeders.  But, The Rock's real rise to prominence occurred in the WWF — World Wrestling Federation — where he won the WWF championship and became one of the most popular wrestlers of all time. After the WWF, he crossed over into the mainstream where he guest-starred on TV shows and began his career in movies (The Game Plan, Get Smart, Tooth Fairy).
