Meadville Man Faces Charges after Stand-Off

In Meadville, a police standoff with a man police believed was armed forced officers to close off a portion of Water Street Sunday evening.

Officers were called to 851 Water Street after two men walking by that address told police a man from a second floor apartment taunted them. The men said he pointed a shotgun at them.

Police called the suspect and talked him in to surrendering. It turns out the weapon was a pump-style BB gun.

Police are charging 47-year-old Anthony Joe DuPont with simple assault, recklessly endangering, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
