A lot of work is underway to get ready for the first major July 4th bayfront fireworks show in 3 years.
Since Friday crews from Zambelli Fireworks have been loading fireworks onto 2 barges docked along the east bayfront. Tomorrow night, they will be towed out into Presque Isle Bay off Liberty Park for the show sponsored by Perry 200.
The show will include nearly 1200 shells, half of them to be fired off during the finale.
Jim Cambonelli of Zambelli Fireworks said, "This is one of the bigger shows we hve done. It compares to the old Mercyhurst and Boom over the Bay that we used to do."
The U.S. Coast Guard will enforce a safety zone around the barges to keep boaters away from the barges.
