It's called Bash On the Bay, and its the newest form of entertainment we have on Wednesdays in Erie. Wednesday was the first night for the Bash, and organizers were happy to see the turnout, looking forward to an even bigger crowd in the weeks to follow.
The owner of Rum Runners and The Cove had the idea of extending on his block-party from last year, only taking advantage of the beautiful bay right at his restaurants. More importantly though, this event Wednesday night was a way to get more people down to the Bayfront area, an area that is growing.
"Its very important to develop down here," said owner and organizer Tim Sedney. "This is a destination point because truly that its going to be here in a very short period of time once everything does get developed. It'll be a happening spot."
And those who came out for the first night of this Bash also seem to think that showcasing the Bayfront is something we should do more often.
"I walk down downtown everyday during lunch and its just a gorgeous area, I look forward to it, its one of the high lights of my day," said Erie resident Tony Ferrara. "To have live entertainment of this caliber down here, this beautiful setting. I don't think it gets any better than this."
Now if you missed the first one, there will be three more throughout August 1. They are all on Wednesdays and will go from 6 PM until 10 PM.
