Former Erie bank president and Trustee Emeritus for Penn State Ted Junker is in Scranton today meeting with fellow Board members over a report scathing in its criticism of how the university handled the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Contacted by the stations of Lilly Broadcasting, Junker told us he would not be commenting individually on the Freeh report, but will join with other Trustees in speaking with one voice.
To that end, a statement on the Penn State website says that Board members are currently going through the 267-report, put together by Judge Louis Freeh.
The report severely criticizes top Penn State administrators, including former coach Joe Paterno, for "disregarding the safety of children" in the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal.
It goes on to say that the university hid "critical facts" after the investigation came to light.
Board members may have more to say later in the day. The statement ends with the words that the university is working to "ensure that what occurred will never be allowed to happen again."
Complete coverage tonight on the stations of Lilly Broadcasting.
