Man Dies in Accident Trying to Avoid Downed Tree - WICU12/WSEE Erie, PA News, Sports, Weather and Events

A man who tried to avoid a tree while driving lost his life in the process.

State police say 65-year-old Thomas St. John, of Union City, was trying to avoid a downed tree along State Route 1037, also known as Little Cooley Road. That's located in Athens township, Crawford county.

The cab of his car was crushed when St. John traveled under the tree. State police say he was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
