Man Dies in Industrial Accident

An Erie man is dead after an industrial accident this afternoon on Erie's west side.   He's identified as 46-year-old Steven Zucker, of Ohio.

It happened around 3 o'clock this afternoon at a business in the 400 block of West 11th Street.

According to witness, the victim was operating a forklift, the load he was carrying was reportedly too heavy and the jitney started to tip. The operator tried to jump out of the fork lift... but it fell over and struck the top of his head, killing him almost instantly.

Employees of the neighboring business tried to save the man by lifting it off of him, but it was just too heavy.

The coroner was called to the scene. An investigation is now underway.
