The community is coming together to help a local family who lost everything in a fire Friday evening. The Maloney family home at 641 West 9th went up in flames and the fire spread to an apartment house next door, displacing three tenants.
Erie Restoration Inc. is the company who will be helping the Maloney family, but several of the business partners are friends with the family and decided to launch a donation drive. On Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, the accepted donations at their warehouse. They put out the word on facebook. Dozens of donors stopped by to give clothing, furniture, gift cards and other items the family may need.
Melissa Hart told us, "the support of the community has been great." If you missed the drive you can make a cash donation at the Erie Federal Credit Union c/o the Maloney Family.
