Ultra Light Plane Crashes in Lake Erie

Reports of a plane crash in Lake Erie sent rescuers in western Erie County rushing to the Lake Erie shoreline Sunday afternoon.

The pilot of an un-registered ultra light plane crashed his aircraft into the water about 1:15 Sunday afternoon.

The good news is he survived the crash and was not hurt. He was already out of the water when some people spotted the wreckage about an hour later and called 911.

Rescuers from Springfield, Lake City, Lake Shore and divers from Millcreek all responded, but there was no emergency.

The pilot is reportedly dismantling his aircraft. The FAA will investigate.
