TOLEDO, Ohio -
Sunday was the 11th consecutive cooler-than-average day at the Toledo Express Airport. After a hot May, June and July, the change has brought much relief to the heat-weary in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Swimming pools have been much quieter due to the lack of recent heat.
The last time we had a consistently below-normal string of days this long was more than 16 months ago, from the end of March to early April, 2011.
We'll likely add three or four more days to the streak, through midweek, as highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s, and lows will remain in the 50s. Our average high and low, this time of the year, is 82 and 61.
The statistic is calculated by taking the average of the day's high and low, and comparing that to the average of the normal high and low for each day on the calendar, for the Toledo Express Airport.
Temperatures will return back to near normal mid-August levels at the end of the week, when highs return to the lower to middle 80s and lows rebound into the lower 60s.
