Police have released more information in the death of 28-year old John Cargile, who was shot to death in an overnight incident on the city's east side.
Cargile was on the porch of the home of 24-year old Stetson Sanders in the 700 block of East 25th Street when the two were approached by at least two men. Sanders was shot and wounded in the attack and was taken to the hospital.
Witnesses report two men running from the scene.
The coroner has ruled Cargile's death a homicide caused by a single gunshot wound to the chest. Cargile's brother was also shot and killed in an incident in 2010.
The shooting quickly created a large crowd in the neighborhood, so large that Erie police asked for assistance from Millcreek in controlling the crowd.
No arrests have been made.
