ADRIAN, Mich. -
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Alert for Monroe and Lenowee Counties and areas to the north, for the afternoon hours.
High pressure systems produce slowly sinking air. In the summer, when high pressure stalls overhead, pollutants like ground-level ozone can become trapped near the ground.
Those with respiratory illnesses are encouraged to avoid strenuous activity during the warmest hours of the day.
A cold front will arrive next Monday, and that will greatly improve the air quality next week.
