St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Erie has a special visitor this weekend.
It's a very well traveled statue known as the "Pilgrim Virgin Statue of the Blessed Mother."
Since Pope Pius the 12th blessed the statue in 1946, it's traveled to every country in the world. It's deemed miraculous, because witnesses have claimed to see the statue cry more than 30 times.
The statue reminds Catholics of the special role of Mary as the mother of Christ.
"It really brings a great sense of devotion," said Father Jerry Priscaro of St. Anne's Parish.
The statue will be on view for three masses on Sunday; the Latin mass at 9:30 a.m., regular Sunday mass at 11:00 a.m., and a closing mass for the statue visit at 3:15 p.m.
