TAMPA, Fla. -
Topical storm Isaac is looming off Florida's coast, the Republican National Committee is making some big changes to the convention.
Washington Bureau Chief Jacqueline Policastro is with the Ohio Delegation in Tampa, Florida at
the hotel where the Ohio delegates are staying. Some delegates are already there, some are still scheduled to arrive Sunday.
Isaac hasn't hit yet but convention organizers are being cautious. RNC Chairman Reince Preibus told us the convention will convene Monday, but immediately recess until Tuesday. That means all the convention activities including the important roll call vote to officially nominate Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are pushed back a day.
Right now, other Ohio delegate events- like social gatherings and state meetings will continue - they may be even more important now that the official convention activities are postponed.
So far, all of the other state delegations still plan to attend the convention. Organizers told us - the first priority is making sure delegates are safe.
The National Weather Service is projecting that Isaac could affect Tampa directly on Monday and Tuesday.
Transportation is a major issue - some delegates are staying in hotels right on the gulf of Mexico. The Ohio delegation's hotel is further inland.
When it comes to the campaign - Mitt Romney's advisors say that moving the convention from four days to three is unexpected but it won't be a problem.
