Volunteers from the Erie Chapter of the American Red Cross will be ready to help if Tropical Storm Isaac causes widespread damage on the gulf coast.
This morning, 3 seasoned volunteers loaded up the chapter's emergency response vehicle and headed to a staging area in Montgomery, Alabama. They will then be directed to whatever located they're needed.
Red Cross volunteers from all over the country will join forces to work together.
Pam Masi, Executive Director of the Erie Chapter of the American Red Cross said, "Red Cross workers are trained the same way in every chapter which is great because once they get together they mold together as a team."
Tonight, 2 more local volunteers will fly to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. And early Tuesday, another pair of volunteers will fly to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
