More on the disturbing case of animal cruelty that we first told you about Monday night.
A family's horse is fighting for its life, after purposely being set on fire.
At this point, the veterinarian said there's a 50/50 chance that the horse will survive.
Northstar was wondering in his pasture Saturday night, when state police say someone poured an accelerant on him, and lit him on fire.
He suffered severe burns all over his body, singeing most of its hair.
Jessie Woodworth of Athens township, Crawford county, owns the 6 year old horse that she says is her companion.
And when she found Northstar in the pasture with all the burns, she was frantic, and just can't believe someone could do this.
"It's going to be week by week. Hopefully no infection sits in and as along as no infection sets in he should be okay. All of his hair might not ever grow back but that wont matter." Said Woodworth.
We spoke with Northstar's veterinarian over the phone.
Dr. Amanda Turner with the Marley Veterinary Clinic says he has a very long road ahead of him.
"He is severely burnt from his ears to his rump, all over his spine and part way down his sides. He is very tender and it's going to lose some of his skin. Unfortunately we're concerned about infection and his comfort level." Said Dr. Turner.
This is a story that's really tugged at the heartstrings of many people, especially animal lovers.
