Local Democrats gathered for a Labor Union rally Thursday night, as republicans are all in Tampa for their convention, talking about just how important this election is for President Obama.
Local democratic candidates were there, all stressing the importance of standing behind President Obama this November. Special guest speaker was the Vice Chair for the Democratic National Committee Linda Chavez-Thompson.
She said the rally was all about the mobilizing troops, and putting more energy into the campaign. And with just 68 days before voters head to the poles, that will be important for democrats in our state.
"What we're trying to do is tell our union members that if they talk to one person and get one more vote, that is key and crucial," said Chaves-Thompson. "And Pennsylvania is a such an important state, it has to be a state that votes Democrat."
Chavez-Thompson will be heading to Charlotte, NC in just a few days for the Democratic National Convention. But she did say that she plans to return to Erie before November 6.
