TOLEDO, Ohio -
After a hot, dry start to summer, the month of August was cooler and wetter than the long-term average, at the Toledo Express Airport.
We received 4.91" of rain in western Lucas County, which is 1.76" above average. Despite a dry start to summer, this boosted our June / July / August (meteorological summer) total to 11.28", which was actually a surplus of 1.33" above normal.
A couple of unusual cool spells kept temperatures below average, when it comes to the monthly mean. The mean temperature for August of 2012 (highs and lows) was 70.5°, which is a full 1.0° below the long-term average for the Toledo Express Airport.
We're transitioning into a wet time, but over the next few days, the bulk of the heaviest rain will pass to the south of the city. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will still be possible, farther to the north.
