You don't have to be German to celebrate this weekend.
The 16th annual German Festival opened Saturday at Saint Nick's Grove.
The celebration kicked off with a parade of flags. Costumed flag bearers sang the national anthems of Germany, Austria and the U.S.
Along with the usual festival fare, such as beer, bratwursts and sauerkraut, there's something special for the kids, too.
"we've got the music, the food, the dancing, and there's a little bit of kid in everybody," said festival founder Beverly Pochatko. "We have...Granny's Ark Petting Zoo that's a favorite, everybody goes up there."
The festival runs until 8 on Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are five dollars, but if you bring a canned food donation, you get a dollar off the ticket price.
