We have more tonight on Northstar, the horse deliberately set on fire last week in Crawford County.
The horse was taken today to Ohio State University where he will be seen by specialists. Northstar has second degree burns and most of the burns are healing nicely. However, some areas are infected and need skin grafting. Ohio State is one of only a few places where the procedure is done.
"We just have to hold onto hope. We can't give up on him. He's not giving up on himself. We're getting him out there and giving him the best treatment possible," said Jessie Woodworth, Northstar's owner.
The horse trailer and driver used today were donated by a trainer at Presque Isle Downs. Also, thousands of dollars have been donated for Northstar's medical care through a Facebook page. That site was started by a local animal lover.
