Fire Breaks out in McDowell Basement

Some tense moments at Mcdowell intermediate high school Saturday, after firefighters responded to a fire in the basement.

It happened around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

Sources say the blaze started in a generator in the service area of the building.

Apparently, a custodian noticed a strange odor and called 911.

At least three fire departments arrived on scene and were able to confine it to that area of the building.

They were able to extinguish the blaze in about five minutes.

Fire investigators are now trying to pin-point a cause.
