Women leaders in the community networked and mentored today at a luncheon at UPMC Hamot.
They came together to celebrate ATHENA International Women's Leadership Day.
A round table discussion format encouraged women of different professions to share ideas and experiences.
It provided a chance for established leaders to mentor emerging leaders, make connections, and learn from each other.
Strong role models are an important part of fostering the next generation of leaders.
"I want to make sure that there are young people that can carry this program on," said Chair Linda Stevenson. "Women have made such headway in so many ways, in the business arena and politics and in sports, and we need to make sure that the young folks are getting a leg up."
The Erie event is just one of hundreds of events like it going on today across the nation.
