NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio -
North Baltimore Police are investigating 38-year-old Kimberlie Gustwiller who they say pocketed money after she falsely claimed she had cancer.
The mother-of-five is now facing theft charges after claiming to have stage four non-Hodgkins's lymphoma.
North Baltimore Police say they have received evidence that proves Gustwiller is not suffering from any type of cancer.
North Baltimore resident Tremor Dienst said, "It is kinda outraging from somebody that's actually had cancer, that I dealt with for 7 years and it's just unbelievable somebody would do that you know, kinda even wish that karma on themselves, you know."
The department is advising the public not to make any further contributions to the Kimberlie Gustwiller Fund.
We're told a benefit for her was held just last week and another was scheduled for next month. Hundreds of dollars have already been raised.
Many have shaved their heads and died their hair pink in support. Now residents are hurting.
Deb Sheeks said, "it's very personal, like I said, I had a daughter that died of it and it's no good. And to ruin it for everybody else that does have it, because like I said, they're not gonna trust."
North Baltimore Police are still investigating and they are asking anyone who made a donation to call them.
Meanwhile, Gustwiller is in the Wood County Jail and will be arraigned by video conference Monday morning.
