A man dubbed by law enforcement as the "Bucket List Bandit" has pled not guilty to an Erie robbery.
54-year old Michael Eugene Brewster making that declaration in federal court during a brief hearing before federal magistrate Susan Paradise Baxter.
Brewster is charged with a single count of bank robbery for the September 10th holdup at the Huntington National Bank branch near West 12th and Pittsburgh Avenue.
Court records show that $4080 was taken in the hold up.
Police suspect Brewster in a string of robberies across the country committed allegedly because those crimes were on Brewster's so-called bucket list, things to do before someone passes away, or "kicks the bucket."
That has led to speculation that Brewster may be ill. He allegedly told a Utah bank teller she was being robbed because he only had a short time to live.
A reporter posed that question to the defendant on his way out of the courtroom, to which Brewster simply smiled and shrugged.
Attorneys now have 45 days to make pre-trial requests. Brewster will remain jailed in a federal facility near Youngstown, Ohio.
