Meadville's old National Guard Armory is now scheduled to open as the new city hall later this month.
Construction began 10 months ago. There have been a few delays and higher than projected costs.
But now the major demolition, plumbing and electrical work is done. A lot of finishing work is underway. The goal is to have both the police and adminstrative offices open in late October.
City Manager Joe Chriest said, "Right now we're probably 80% completed. If you look at the differences, the police wing downstairs is probably 95%, upstairs in the administrative wing it is probably 65-70%."
The estimated cost of the project is now about $2.5 million. Upgrades including a new roof, improved electrical service and a police garage have all made the project more costly than expected.
