MARBLEHEAD, Ohio -
The windiest place in Ohio Monday night and Tuesday morning was certainly the Lake Erie shoreline. Sustained winds overnight Monday were measured between 35 and 40 mph between Port Clinton and Marblehead. The winds quickly ramped up between 6am and 9am on Tuesday morning. The top measured wind speed was registered at the Marblehead lighthouse at about 7:05am Tuesday morning of 79 mph, which is considered hurricane force. The average sustained winds were at 50-60 mph around the same time. The lighthouse was as popular Tuesday as it would be on a beautiful sunny day. This time folks came to admire the power of Mother Nature.
