While many political candidates are working nearly non-stop in the final days before the election, some office holders can relax. They are unopposed.
Locally, Democratic State Representative Pat Harkins is running unopposed for a 4th term. Fellow Democrat Flo Fabrizio has no opponent for a 6th term. Both men say they can devote more time to their Erie districts because they are unopposed. And they are both hoping for a new spirit of cooperation after the election.
Fabrizio said, "We're hoping we can move forward to some consensus to get rid of the gridlock down there."
Harkins said, "I hope people are elected who are more centrist, going forward i think that is critical. Compromise is not a bad word. We need to realize that is what we need to do."
Both men say their key priorities are education funding and tax reform.
