The Erie Fire Department will soon have a new rescue-pumper truck.
Erie City Council today approved the purchase of the truck to replace a 199 unit at the firehouse at 8th and East Avenue. That truck will now become a backup. The current backup unit will be sold.
The city will spend nearly $670,000 on the new rescue-pumper.
City Councilman Bob Merski, Jr. said, "The new truck should be delivered within 6 months. It was a competitive bid process. There were 12 bidders and we got the best deal for the citizens of the City of Erie."
The truck is being purchased by KME Fire Apparatus, a major supplier of fire fighting equipment.
