For the month of November Lilly Broadcasting is focusing on how to reduce violence, and on Thursday the mayor announced a community meeting that's doing just that.
The Erie Together Community Forum will be held November 13 at the Bayfront Convention Center, for members of the community to discuss how to fight poverty in order to help youth succeed.
The United Way of Erie County has a hand in the forum as well, and President Bill Jackson said schools can't do it alone. It has to be an all around effort from the community.
"Even the best school in the world can't teach kids if they come to school hungry, if they come from a home life where education's not valued, where they see no hope for themselves or their future," said Jackson. "They need adults in their lives that they trust."
Pre-registration for the forum is preferred, and you can sign up by clicking here.
