Friday in Cambridge Springs, people had the chance to tour the armory. The Stryker brigade opened their doors, to let the public check out their facilities. Some even had the chance to try out some of the equipment.
Soldiers there tell us they just wanted a way to show their appreciation and engage with the surrounding community. With veterans day this weekend, they thought this would be the perfect chance. It was also a way for people to learn about the history of this unit.
"The PA National Guard traces its roots all the way back to Benjamin Franklin, and its actually the oldest unit in the army," said Captain Damyan Graves. "The Associators, are what they were known as, were basically his private unit. So it can be traced all the way back to then."
This particular unit of the National Guard has been around since the Civil War.
