An artist and author of a new book, returns to her hometown, to promote her new book.
Tuesday night, at the Erie Art Museum, Erie native Gail Soliwoda Cassilly held a reading and signing of her new book, "Saltwater."
It came out in September.
It's a memoir that talks about her long journey that started in Erie.
About her father's tragic death here, then her joining a missionary group of nuns, and going to Africa.
"What drove me to do this was really looking for a creative project. I was in a funk for a while there and when I had the idea of writing it was more to just explore a new medium. It wasn't to tell my story or anything like that. I wound up using my story because that's what I knew." Said Soliwoda Cassilly.
Soliwoda Cassilly currently lives in St. Louis, she started writing the book back in 2007.
It's now on store shelves.
