Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott tonight will present his proposed 2013 budget to Erie City Council. He is not discussing the details until that time.
But today, Sinnott did say his administration has been working since August to finalize the spending plan. He said it has been a challenge because of rising employee salaries, higher pension costs and bigger utility bills. He won't say specifically how the budget deals with those challenges but he said it wasn't easy
Sinnott said, "As council will hear tonight, there are some things that come up every year that we have to deal with. We have managed to make some good savings in some areas and to cut some other things we needed to do."
The 2012 budget included a property tax hike. City Council President Curtis Jones says there is no support on council for a tax increase for 2013.
