A lot of people in Chautauqua County and across New York State are confused and upset about a multi-million dollar contract to handle the production of driver's licenses.
The State Department of Motor Vehicles awarded the contract to the highest bidder. The deal is $38 million more than the current contract.
The state says the losing bids weren't adequate. But a lot of drivers say the deal just doesn't make sense.
In fact the Chautauqua County Clerk's office has started a peititon drive to overturn the deal.
Deputy Clerk Tracie Haskin said, "People were absolutely outraged so we thought we would give them a voice, put the petitions out and get their names down and let our elected officials know. Most people are saying what is going on? This just doesn't make sense."
The New York State Comptrollers office is now reviewing the contract.
