In Harrisburg, ballots are now being counted to determine the results of a strike authorization vote by faculty at 14 state-owned universities, including Edinboro.
The results are expected to be announced in the next few days. It is the latest development in the contract dispute that could affect 120,000 students statewide.
The vote does not mean there will be a strike. But a "yes" vote would show the faculty members are behind their negotiating team.
Nearly 90% of Edinboro's 400 unionized faculty members cast their ballots this week.
Union Vice-President Dr. Michael Bucell said, "Of course we'll have to see how they voted. But my impression is they are strongly behind the negotiating team. And we will see the strike authorization pass with a very high percentage."
The faculty members have been working without a contract since June 2011. Key stumbling blocks include health care and pay for part-time instructors.
