Gannon's"Catholic House" is now the "Bishop Donald W. Trautman House", paying homage to the many years of service from Erie's bishop.
The house is a special residence for students who want to live in a faith filled environment, with emphasis on Christian values.
Gannon revealed the new name at a dedication ceremony on the lawn of the house, where the retired Bishop was modest in light of the university's gesture.
"It's very humbling to have something named after you, I'm not really worthy of that, but I appreciate the wonderful gesture given by the administration, donors, facility, and the students," said Trautman. "I'm very proud of the students, I think we should put the focus on them this day."
In his remarks, Bishop Emeritus Trautman emphasized faith as a valuable part of the college experience.
