The makers of Twinkies and Ho Hos are shutting down because of financial problems.
The company closed on Friday, leaving over 18,000 employees out of a job. Hostess is known for snacks, like Twinkies and Ho Hos, but they also are the makers of Wonder Bread.
Our crews head to the Wegmans on Peach Street to talk with shoppers. Everybody agreed, it's a sad day.
"I mean 18,000 jobs is a big deal, and I know our economy is bad, but I'm really worried about the Twinkies and the HoHos, because that's a big part of my life and its gone now," said Max Maloney of Linesville.
"I'm surprised," said Laurena Ambroise of Erie. "It means lost jobs, and it limits our choices. That makes it able for other bread companies to jack up their prices even more. There's no competition."
The Wegmans on upper Peach is already sold out of Twinkies and Ho Hos.
