We all know how brutal Erie winters can be, and a local non profit is making sure more people stay warm this season.
The Upper Room day shelter accepted donations in Perry Square on Saturday for their annual "Blizzard of Blankets" collection.
They took winter clothing and jackets as well, for Erie's population who need a little extra help, as we begin the holiday season.
This was part of national homelessness awareness week.
"The problem with homelessness I guess to a lot of people is one of invisibility," said Tom Schlaudecker of the Upper Room, "because their normal lives don't bring them in close contact with it."
You can still bring donations to the shelter, at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ on Peach Street. Their doors are open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
