Posted: Updated:

BOWLING GREEN - The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team lost to Ferris State Saturday night, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Bulldogs in the second game of their two-game home series. Junior Bryce Williamson scored the lone goal for the Orange and Brown, while freshman Tommy Burke turned away 12-of-14 shots in the loss.

Bowling Green scored a goal on the power play for the second straight night, going 1-for-5 in the contest. The Bulldogs also scored on the man advantage, going 1-for-4 on the night.

Ferris State scored the games' opening goal for the second-straight night, coming off the stick of junior Andy Huff at the 14:12 mark of the first period. Bowling  Green failed to light the lamp in the opening frame, despite outshooting the Bulldogs by an 11-5 margin.

Ferris State's Kyle Bonis scored the second goal of the night for the Bulldogs, netting a power-play tally with just over two minutes remaining in the second period.
Down 2-0 heading into the final period, a Ferris State penalty put the Falcons on the power play early in the third.

Just over thirty seconds into the man advantage, Dajon Mingo carried the puck from behind the Bulldog net. Mingo turned and fired a shot, catching a piece of Ryan Carpenter's stick in front. Motte made the initial save on the tip in front, but sent a rebound out to Williamson waiting on the right circle. Williamson fired the puck top shelf past the sprawling goaltender, cutting the Ferris State lead to one.

The Falcons dominated the remainder of the game, outshooting Ferris State 10-3 in the third period. Although Bowling Green earned several quality-scoring chances, the Falcons were unable to solve Motte for the remainder of the contest. Ferris State's Travis Oullette added an empty-net goal in the closing seconds of the third, securing the 3-1 victory for the Bulldogs.

Bowling Green's power-play goal marks the second game in a row that the Falcons have scored on the power play. The Falcons' last back-to-back games with a power-play goal came at the start of the season, when Bowling Green scored with the man advantage in three-straight contests to open the year. Williamson's tally with the man advantage marks his first power-play goal since Dec. 31, 2011, in a 2-1 loss to Bemidji State on the road.

The loss drops Bowling Green's overall record to 2-8-3, with a record of 1-5-2-1 in CCHA action. The win pushes Ferris State's record to 6-4-2 overall, including a record of 5-3-0 in conference play.

The Falcons are right back in action this coming Wednesday, facing off against Michigan in a midweek tilt at Yost Ice Arena. The puck is set to drop at 7:35.
