CINCINNATI (AP) - A 19-year-old southwest Ohio man has been sentenced to six months in jail for killing his girlfriend's kitten.
Hamilton County Judge Brad
Greenberg said Monday that Gerale Witcher acted with "incredible
cruelty" when he grabbed the kitten by its tail Oct. 25 and smashed it
against a wall. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that
Greenberg sentenced Witcher for cruelty to animals and obstructing
official business, and barred him from owning any pets for 15 years.
A domestic violence charge was dismissed. Police say they found the dead kitten when responding to a violence call.
Witcher told the judge he
didn't mean to hurt the kitten, but was trying to get it off as it
scratched him. His attorney said Witcher has some mental issues from a
2010 car crash.
