An autopsy has been completed on the body of the woman, beaten, allegedly by her boyfriend.
Her death has been ruled a homicide.
The coroner pronounced Mary Smith of Erie, dead at the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
After an autopsy Wednesday, there's still no official cause of her death.
The incident happened Saturday night, at Smith's apartment on west 17th street in Erie.
Investigators say Smith's boyfriend, 51 year old Jeff Selby, beat her into a brain-dead state.
Doctors officially declared her dead on Tuesday.
The coroner says he's withholding the cause of death, pending several test results.
Police had already charged Selby with attempted murder, those charges have been upgraded to homicide.
"I have ruled the death a homicide, but we're withholding the cause of death until we have all the results of our different tests back, that will probably take about a month." Said Erie County Coroner, Lyell Cook.
In the meantime, the family has set up a fund, to help pay for funeral expenses.
You can donate at any branch of First National Bank under the "Mary Ann Smith charity fund."
