Through implementing physical therapy software, practices can save both time and money through a more efficient flow of operations. Private practice marketing expert and physical therapist, Nitin Chhoda, shows how using the latest PT documentation software can save tons of money of practice owners in his latest blog post.
Denville, NJ (PRWEB) November 30, 2012
"Advances in technology can lead to more efficient operations and the medical industry is no exception. Proper care and handling of patient records is imperative and newer technologies are becoming available to make the storage and utilization of medical records safer, faster, and easier to integrate into the medical practice," says Nitin Chhoda, a licensed physical therapist and marketing expert. He is a big advocate for physical therapy software. Physical therapy software can greatly enhance smooth flow and integrate functions across the board, saving both time and money.
With EMR (electronic medical records), physical therapy practices save time by not having to pull each patient’s file folder and passing it around from the therapist to the biller and scheduler. Rather, each task is integrated into the software, streamlining the whole process. Each time the physical therapist sees a patient, they pull up the patient’s medical records through the physical therapy software and enter any new information and notes. Then, when they move on to the next patient, they simply use the software to pull up the next patient’s records. This saves time without having to fumble through folders of paperwork and also with the ease of finding information in the patient’s record. When the patient is done, the scheduler then pulls up the same patient record to set up their next appointment.
This type of integrated software also greatly simplifies the process of physical therapy billing. All of the codes are readily available and easily searchable through the software, leaving little room for error. Not to mention the processes are all instantaneous, therefore, when the doctor finishes with the patient, the physical therapy billing team can immediately begin the process. This eliminates a backlog, as the process flows much more smoothly, not to mention with EMR there is no longer a need to pull files, sort and refile them at the end of the day. It also allows the physical therapy department to better maintain collections, easily showing who has not been paying.
As a doctor of physical therapy, and certified strength and conditioning specialist, Chhoda's mission is to help other practitioners improve their practice through invaluable education on the latest technologies.
