Students at McDowell High School today got a first-hand look at the devastation caused by drunk driving. The Pennsylvania DUI Association brought it's Moving Victims Memorial to the school.
The students saw the names of DUI victims around the state on the wall of a trailer. They also signed their names on a nearby wrecked car pledging not to drink and drive, to obey speed limits and wear seat belts.
Other students used a computer simulator to get a feel for the dangers of driving while impaired.
Cathy Tress of the Pennsylvania DUI Association said, "Well the message is to save the lives, from making a decision that could possibly impact family, friends and others they share the road with."
In 2011 there were nearly 12,000 alcohol-related crashes in Pennsylvania.
