LUNA PIER, Mich. -
While conditions improved across most of Northwest Ohio, the fog actually thickened through the morning and midday Monday in parts of Southeast Michigan.
The thickest fog has been located just north of a warm front, and that front has been sliding north across the Toledo metro area, since daybreak.
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM in Monroe, Lenawee and Washtenaw Counties of Michigan, northward, well beyond the Detroit metro area.
The visibility will improve around mid-afternoon for areas north of the state line.
This morning, 167 school districts were either delayed or closed in the 13abc viewing area.
More than 60 of them were closed for the entire day.
While some patchy fog will be possible in a few areas later tonight, it should not be nearly as widespread, thanks to an active breeze tonight and early on Tuesday.
Fog forms more effectively with calm conditions.
