Generous viewers have already contributed hundreds of toys to 13abc's Hope for the Holidays toy drive, including a drop-off of some 1,200 Hot Wheels.
Josh Chevalier began collecting the toys in 1995 and continued to amass more cars until 2003.
He says there's a simple reason he's parting with his collection.
"I just thought, you know, there are enough children out there that can't have a good Christmas," he says. "The less fortunate children could use them more than I could."
