A local veteran was honored for his service to our country on Wednesday afternoon.
State Senator Elect Sean Wiley and Erie County Executive Barry Grossman, awarded retired Army Colonel Pat Potalivo's family with several medals, including a purple heart.
Colonel Potalivo's military career spanned 30 years. He served in World War II, The Korean War and Vietnam.
Sadly, he is in hospice care and was unable to attend Wednesday's event.
"My brother would have been honored to be here today," said Robert Potalivo, Colonel Potalivo's brother. "Not because of any accolades he was receiving, but the accolades that should be given to all the veterans who served for this country."
Colonel Potalivo was drafted in 1943 and retired in 1973.
