Downtown Erie is a little brighter now, thanks to lighting of a tree at UPMC Hamot.
Thursday was Hamot's Second Annual Brighten the Night tree lighting ceremony. They partner with Great Lakes Hospice to raise money each year. This year they raised $30,000.
This tree here has over 1,500 lights on it, some purple, some white, to remember and honor loved ones who have passed.
"The spirit of those that are up in Heaven now, is with us," said this year's Brighten the Night Chair Pauline Stevens. "Every time we look at this tree, it will remind us of those that have passed and who are still with us in spirit."
