Times Old Newsies Collect Donations

A lot of former local newspaper carriers were out braving the elements today, collecting money to help the needy during this holiday season.

 About 250 Times Old Newsies set up at dozensof locations aound town including grocery stores, banks ad government offices. The annual effort started back in 1939. A lot of these volunteers  come out every December to help raise money for Christmas food baskets.

 Harvey Barber said, "We do it because it is a good, giving thing. We make up 2500 boxes of food for needy families in Erie. When we deliver it, they have a nice happy face."

 The food baskets will be delivered the week of December 17.
